Stories from Strangers

We’ll have a new question here every month for you to answer and engage with. Think of this as an online journal, except everyone gets a page in the book, and no one knows who’s written what (fun!).

Pour your heart out or read through the pages of someone else’s heart. Either way, we hope you find comfort in reading these stories from strangers.

What remains unchanged about you since you were a child?

    I’m still curious

My Love for God , its so strange because now that I am 68, I feel closer to understanding more than ever what he wants us to do and that how we treat each other no matter how small – a smile, a lift, a kind word, life is all about the hand we hold out for each other – whether it is just holding that hand for comfort, or just to reach out, or to give, its all about the hand. I do not go to church every week, I do not push faith onto to anyone else, because at the end of the day, no matter your religion, be it Judaism, Muslim, Hindu, Christian and any form of religion – there is only one God for us all. Its like travelling t Cape Town – you can take any route from Joburg – but you still end up at Cape Town. You can take any road on life, at the end its the same God for ALL of us. So that’s what I have from a child to now – never changing just growing that love he gave me at birth for him and for humanity.

The thing that is unchanged about me is my attention to detail. It’s always been about the little, tiny things for me, the details. And especially about the beautiful things, mostly nature. Just seeing a little leaf or flower, pushing up between two bricks on the side of a wall, sends a thrill right through me. Or finding a pretty shell on the sand. Or seeing a sweet little bird, for a fleeting moment. It’s the small things every day which bring me joy.

My ability to see all potential problems and find a solution before the problem arises.

It is my ability in being unwavering in my kindness and the pursuit of it.

    My love for my dad.

He is the best person, he is the defending on of Godly masculinity. A strong protector and provider but is incredibly humbled and gentle. He raised me (a daughter) with encouragement that I can do anything, pushing me to do my best. It was always around to talk and give advice even with a busy work schedule.

Now 25 and married he is still the most supportive father and has now taken my husband (who grew up without a dad) under his wing and treats him like his own son. He has been the most consistent thing in my life. And I am who I am because of him.
