What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in the past year?

Stories from Strangers
We’ll have a new question here every month for you to answer and engage with. Think of this as an online journal, except everyone gets a page in the book, and no one knows who’s written what (fun!).
Pour your heart out or read through the pages of someone else’s heart. Either way, we hope you find comfort in reading these stories from strangers.

Processing my divorce along with all the deeply suppressed trauma that surfaced from my childhood. While trying to be a good mom to my 2yo and trying to keep my business going through really tough financial times. It has definitely been the hardest thing I have ever had to face, and the worst year I have ever gone through.

The biggest challenge I have faced this year is juggling a full-time job, full-time studies, a marriage and three toddlers at the same time. It is hard to be the best I can be for my children and my husband when every second is occupied by more than 2 things. The juggling is just a season, I know… but my kids are 2,3 and 4 years old and it feels like I am missing out on the foundational blocks of their personhood.

Being phoned by my father after work one day to say my mom has had a pulmonary embolism and is in hospital. The words crushed me as a year prior my sister passed away two weeks post operation from multiple pulmonary embolism. My heart sank for a moment with the pure mention of those words. But I was able to feel the pain and recover in prayer. I prayed the whole way to the hospital. After a week in hospital my mom was discharged it’s been a long road to recovery but truly I am beyond greatful for the miracle and grace we have experienced. Not to put knowledge while she was in hospital something happened to her heart that when she went for full checkup early this year they asked how are you even alive. We truly experienced a miracle. In December I was admitted into hospital as my liver enzymes were through the roof I had a virus that was attacking my liver. Three months later I started struggling with complicated migraines that mimicked a stroke. Today I am beyond greatful for my health and my journey to wellness. I am greatfull for every blessing, miracle and the grace the Lord has shown me.

Having lost most of my belongings, job, overall passion and vision of self – decided to move back to my parents of whom my mother has stage 4 cancer and realising what her daily struggle is not only mentally and emotionally but physically. Our struggles have given me great perspective, and gratitude for the daily.

Having the company I work for dissolve my team and transferring me to a team I did not want to be a part of. Not being allowed to develop on my product any longer, and being forced to close down my personal company. It’s been a rough employment year!

Accepting that the acknowledgment of my pain and an apology will never come…
And that its ok, not to be ok with, yet…
